About Me
Henry C. Chibor is Co-Head of the Litigation and Arbitration Practice Group at Solola & Akpana.
He brings to the role decades of distinguished experience as a litigator, arbitration counsel, and arbitrator, with a practice spanning complex commercial disputes, securities litigation, labour and industrial relations matters, and environmental claims, including high-value oil spill litigation. He has appeared before trial and appellate courts on behalf of both indigenous and multinational clients, regularly serving as Lead Counsel in matters of significant complexity and commercial consequence.
Henry holds LL.B and LL.M degrees from Rivers State University, Port Harcourt. Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1995, he is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Port Harcourt Branch, the International Bar Association (IBA), and serves as a Notary Public of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), UK, Henry is a former Chairman of the CIArb Port Harcourt Chapter and previously served on the Executive Committee of the CIArb Nigeria Branch. His broader professional affiliations include the African Arbitration Association (AfAA), the Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN), the Business Recovery & Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN), the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN), and the International Chamber of Commerce Nigeria (ICCN).
Within the NBA Port Harcourt Branch, Henry currently chairs the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee, a role in which he has consistently raised the standard of professional development programming across the branch.
As an arbitration practitioner, Henry has served as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator, and counsel in numerous proceedings, including multi-billion naira disputes. He was recognised and highly recommended by Chambers & Partners in its 2025 edition, affirming his standing among Nigeria's leading dispute resolution practitioners.
